This is a moderate day walk suitable for experienced walkers. The walk departs from Kasbah Africa (1,041m) and ends at the beautiful Berber village of Assif Zagraoun (1,700m) after approx. 13 km. The trek includes an initial ascent to Tikhfist village, ancient mule trails which contour around the mountains, a mountain pass and a gradual descent to our end point. Depending on ability and individual pace you'll be walking for 6-7 hours.

First we walk along the Azzaden Valley to Torort village. We then trek up to Tikhfist village with impressive views of the Azzaden Valley behind us. We continue south of Tikhfist along a footpath leading to orchards of pomegranate, plum and peach trees. Further on we pass juniper and carob trees then scrub with wild marjoram (oregano). Also keep an eye out for birds such as Eurasian Jay, Subalpine Warbler and Grey Tit.

After views of surrounding green mountains and further afield to the Agafay Desert and Kik Plateau we'll enjoy a picnic break under the shade of walnut trees in a small valley. Next we ascend a mountain pass and cross into the 'Green Valley' and follow the piste which leads to Assif Zagraoun. Eventually a beautiful Berber village is revealed nestled into the mountainside. We take a late tagine lunch in the home of a Berber family before returning to Kasbah Africa by 4x4.
