  • Insight into local culture

  • Water mill & bread making

  • Tea-making ceremony

  • Views from Tassa Ouirgane

  • Lunch option in a Berber home

  • Can be half or full day activity

One of Kasbah Africa's most popular excursions, this trip offers an insight into traditional Berber life in the Azzaden Valley. Enjoying a half or full day with the Berbers you will gain an insight into Berber culture, local community, farming and more. This excursion is on foot (approx. 6 km of tracks and trails) from and back to Kasbah Africa but transport can be arranged if necessary.

We head up the Azzaden Valley to Tassa Ouirgane village following a trail through orchards and farmland. We pass walnut and almond trees, olive groves and numerous fruit trees including apple, peach, plum, apricots, quince, lemon and fig. There's time to visit the local water mill to see how Berber bread is made. Arriving at Tassa Ouirgane village, dramatically located beneath rocky outcrops on the edge of Toubkal National Park, there's time to enjoy a spectacular view down the Azzaden Valley.

Here we hope to visit the local school (depending on operating time and seasons) and spend time with a local family. We will take a different route through the valley back to Kasbah Africa. For keen walkers there is the option to extend the walk and continue further up the valley. The half day option takes approx. 4 hours, and if you'd like to experience a home-cooked lunch in a Berber family house, then allow 7 hours for a full day with the Berbers.
